Abstract

The globalized and competitive world underscores the relevance of positive organizational behavior, specifically team psychological capital (PsyCap). Indeed, teams are crucial to organizational success, and the study of PsyCap at the team level makes a significant contribution to both research and practice. Assessing the levels of PsyCap and/or its dimensions (self-efficacy, resilience, hope, and optimism) to understand the need for their promotion provides organizations with a significant advantage. This study assesses the psychometric properties of the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) at the team level, utilizing both the 24-item and 12-item versions. A sample of 907 participants from 206 teams across 140 organizations from various sectors was analyzed. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the four-factor structure and a higher-order PsyCap model for both versions. Results support both models, indicating a high level of overlap between the scale versions. Both versions measure the same construct effectively, with practical advantages for the scales’ shorter version. Thus, this study contributes to the understanding and application of the Team PsyCap questionnaire in organizational contexts.
