Medicine, pathologies, and diseases in Islamic historiography and their reflection in a Maqbara from Andalusian Mérida

We present the valuable contribution of the Arab written sources, through its great authors versed in medicine, for the knowledge of bioanthropological research. Although there are not many medical works generated during the classical period of Islam that deal with this aspect, what is extracted from the most important ones provides information that, when compared with the analysis of the remains documented in the funerary areas, in this case of Andalusian Mérida, open a field that can be extrapolated to other Maqābir studied in the Iberian Peninsula.
