Resumo

In the present paper the point is made that a interviewer’s know‑how is better acquired through practice and reflection on that practice than through ‘adapting’ general norms and prescriptions to concrete situations, as advanced in most textbooks on methodology. From the standpoint that the fact of interviewing and following those prescriptions does not ensure that voice is given to social actors, a critical analysis is pursued on different actual instances of symbolic violence exerted in the context of interviewing.
