This paper develops the treatment given by Plato to certain Heraclitic subjects in the Cratylus. Beginning with an analysis of the refutation of the character Cratylus by Socrates, which occurs at the end of the dialogue, it aims to approach the explicit and implicit game with the so called ‘Heraclitean flux’ and ‘unity of the opposites’ which Plato, as an author, is capable of forging. Game that is responsible, in the end, for Socrate’s capturing Cratylus with the trap made by his own arguments and conceptions.
