This paper includes the conference given on the 28th October 2015 in the session of tribute to Prof. José d’Encarnação. The topic chosen referred to the epigraphy texts that transmit their voice through the ages without intermediation and open new grounds to enrich all the rest of antiquity sciences. Being aware of the difficulties facing the actual tuition of epigraphy, a series of strategies are put forward connecting aspects of antiquity to present days. Within the Latin epigraphy few example of inscriptions from the territory of Catalonia are examined, focusing mainly in the road network, territorial boundaries and society of the city of Barcino (Barcelona).
