Resumo

The present paper analyses the influence of the thought of Plotinus on one of the most important writers of the Irish literary revival: William Butler Yeats. The works of the Irish poet contain direct references to the Neoplatonic philosopher which constitute the ‘tip of the iceberg’, so to say, of a profound and transcendent imprint of the enneadic philosophy on Yeats’ literature. Our paper, hence, attempts to examine the meaning of this affiliation and tries to reveal some of the specific aspects of the personal, textual and conceptual relationship that the poet develops in some of his works with Plotinus.
