Abstract

This article presents some recent initiatives, related to architectural documents, addressing aspects of a narrative built in Brazil, over time, which has in the cultural heritage the common point.
From the awareness of the local society, in the creation of the Arquivo Público e Histórico do Município de Rio Claro, in 1979, to the proposal for the institution of the Câmara Técnica Consultiva, under the Conselho Nacional de Arquivos do Brasil, presented in 2022, to the definition of guidelines for the technical treatment of archival documents related to architecture and the built environment, there were many collective debates and implemented actions.

In addition to the attributions of collecting, custoding, preserving and organizing funds and collections, access to information and diffusion initiatives, in public and private document custody institutions, are essential for their projection in community, bringing them the necessary popular and cultural dimension.
