The architecture records held in archival institutions has seen a significant boost in Portugal recent decades, with a special note for the architects’ archives. This situation poses a set of problems and challenges considering the nature of these archives, their specificity and documentary diversity. The present work approaches the archival treatment processes adopted in a group of institutions that have this type of documents in their custody. More particularly, it is intended to assess the extent to which the strategies followed reflect the specific conditions of this documentation. Despite the progresses, persist an absent of standardized procedures and the documentation treatment has been centered on design records.
