Abstract

The article narrates an experience of research and teaching on the history of archives and information, centered on premodern Portuguese society. It begins by presenting the bases of its theoretical construction, coming from different disciplines (History, Information Science / Archival Science, Anthropology). Secondly, it proposes a research itinerary applicable to Early modern historical sources, from a perspective of documentary history of institutions and a strong conviction of the need of deepening of the relationship
between heuristic resources and the writing of History.
