Analysis of the literacy in the Convent of Cardaes: 1681-1856

It is studied the signature in its double strand of identification signal and element of document validation is analyzed and referred the historiographic evolution of the literacy through the study of the signatures.
A case study is developed through the analysis of the literacy of the barefoot Carmelite community of the Cardaes Convent in Lisbon.
