Historic centres are important pieces of the urban structure with an important symbolic value. These spaces stand out from other urban areas because of their physical, social and functional dynamics. Moreover, historic centres embody elements of past land-uses, and, for this reason, they are representative of the local collective memory. Those which are located one the coastal areas embody, beyond these values, the testimonies of the interaction between humans and the ocean and the economic and social activities generated by it. Thus, this article focuses on the analysis of the dynamics of these urban areas that, due to their physical and identity characteristics, are called "Historical-Maritime Centres". Appling a methodological proposal that, through a survey of the municipalities’ existing buildings, allows the selection of suitable territorial units of official statistics to obtain the socioeconomic dynamics of historic centres. An analysis of three case studies was carried out in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, Spain - Muros, Baiona and Combarro - and a diagnosis of the main
territorial challenges affecting this type of spaces was elaborated. Based on the results, action lines are proposed to achieve the multifunctional revitalization of these historic centres, based on their cultural, commercial, residential and tourist promotion.
