Abstract

A set of data from recent work and archival research on previous excavations is presented, relating to the presence of a late‑antique pottery workshop in Conimbriga. The kiln, the main recognizable element of this workshop (excavated in 1966) is characterized as a single chamber downdraught kiln and compared to other contemporary craft installations. The probable production of this kiln is characterized within the known pottery groups. The workshop is most likely dated between the second half of the 5th and the 7th century AD.
