This paper analyses the geographic space of a mountainous region of the Roman Hispania, the conventus cordubensis, whose capital was Colonia Patricia Corduba, also headquarter of the governor of the province of Baetica. In a multi-perspective approach, the article firstly approaches the territorial distribution, communication network and main population centers of the area. Next, it describes the relevant administrative role played by Corduba within its conventus. Finally, it focuses on the economic resources of the Mons Marianus, such as forestry, pastures, cattle, etc., with particular reference to the mining activity, the most productive sector in the area at the time.
