Here we analyze the issue surrounding the type of occupation of Quinta do Ervedal (Castelo Novo, Fundão), an archaeological site that some researchers claim to be a secondary settlement, namely a vicus. We seek to look further in this matter, assessing in which ways did the available epigraphic and archaeological data about vici in the inner region of the roman province of Lusitania, obtained through the several studies that have broached the subject of rural occupation in Beira Interior in roman times, support, or not, this thesis.
