Abstract

During the preliminary geotechnical study of the future road Maria Tereza-Salazar, the occurrence of a soil, which undergoes a highly expansive behaviour when subjected to heavy compaction, has been found. ln this note, a detailed study of the soil composition is presented and a discussion is provided on the influence of the mineralogy and compaction characteristics upon its swelling behaviour.
