A search is tried for workability indexes of rocks represented by physical properties which can be correlated with petrographic composition and with other physical properties which have a bearing on the technological processes under scope. The results enable to correlate Vickers microhardness with the industrial rate of bit penetration in drilling operations. From this same point of view reflectivity measurements are examined; they are easily correlated with microhardness once rock type is dully taken into account.
