Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • TERM OF COMMITMENT - I declare that all information I have confirmed in this submission checklist is true. I am informed that non-compliance with the submission guidelines will result in the submission being rejected.
  • BLIND REVIEW - All the author's identifications have been removed from the "Article Text" file.
  • WORD/FORMATAÇÃO - The article is in docx (Word) format, complying with all formatting guidelines referred to in the Collaboration Guidelines. The whole article complies with the norms of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition.
  • REFERENCES - The list of "References" complies with the publication norms of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition. Where possible, the URLs and/or DOI Codes of the References are indicated. We recommend that you pay special attention to the translated works, which should be referred to the translators.
  • DECLARATION OF ORIGINALITY - The author will attach to his submission, a signed declaration that it is an original article and not published or submitted in another journal. This file should be in PDF format.
  • AUTONOMOUS DOCUMENT - The authors will add to the submission an “autonomous document” where the title of the article in Portuguese and English and the following identification elements of all the authors are included: Author 1: name, professional affiliation (Institution, city, country), ORCID iD (hyperlink and not only the number), e-mail. | Author 2 (and other authors): name, professional affiliation (Institution, city, country), ORCID iD (hyperlink and not only the number), e-mail. You should also mention the address of the contact author for correspondence. The information contained must be the same as the information entered in the metadata.
  • METADATA - The author is aware that all metadata fields must be filled in. The only exception is for the "suffix", "URL" and "summary of personal biography" fields in the "User Details" section of the "List of Contributors" (these fields are optional).
  • COMMUNICATIONS - The author should be attentive to the messages of the Psychologica journal during the submission and evaluation process. All communication with the journal team should be done by the platform.
  • COLLABORATION STANDARDS - The author confirms that he has read all the submission guidelines referred to in the Collaboration Guidelines of the Psychologica journal. Furthermore, the author is aware that failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the rejection of the submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
 
It is imperative that the checklist is only completed if the item required by the submission guidelines has been fully complied with by the author.
 
  • PSYCHOLOGICA accepts articles from the scope of Psychology, including works of an empirical nature, brief articles, theoretical reviews and critical reviews.

    1. Psychologica only accepts original works, and those exclusively submitted for evaluation to Psychologica.

    1.1 The author must attach to his submission a signed declaration that the article submitted for publication is an original work and has neither been published in any other journal nor is under consideration for publication by any other journal;

    1.2 The submitted articles are checked in anti-plagiarism software before starting the review process.

    2. Articles can be written in Portuguese or English and must be presented in word format (.doc or .docx);

    3. Articles should not exceed 7000 words (including abstracts, figures, tables, graphs, footnotes and references) and for short articles, 3000 words (including abstracts, figures, tables, graphs, footnotes and references). In the case of critical reviews, the maximum size is 1000 words and footnotes must not be included. These reviews shall identify in the heading: (1) the author(s); (2) publishing year; (3) the title of the work; (4) the location of publication; (5) the publisher. If the critical review is about a translated work, it should include the name of the translator in brackets following the title of the work using the abbreviation Trad.;

    4. Paper size should be A4 (21x29.7cm) with top, bottom and side margins of 2.54cm. Additionally, the text should be doubled-spaced and in 12-pt Times New Roman font, left-justified and indented 1.27 cm for each paragraph;

    5. Papers must include two abstracts – one in Portuguese and the other in English (except for critical reviews), both including the same information: objectives, method(s), results and conclusions. Abstracts must not exceed 200 words each. In the case of brief articles, abstracts cannot exceed 100 words;

    6. The first page of the article must contain the following information: a brief title (with 3 to 5 words) written in the language of the article (Portuguese or English); the titles, the abstracts and 3 to 5 keywords, both in Portuguese and in English, respectively, according to the language of the article;

    7. Authors have to submit, in a separate file, the title of the article in Portuguese and English and the following elements identifying the authors: (1) name; (2) academic/professional affiliation; (3) ORCID number; (4) e-mail; (5) author's address for correspondence. Short contributions should be identified by the designation Brief Article, introduced at the top of the document;

    8. Tables, figures or graphs should respect the formatting rules for content and form established by the American Psychological Association (APA, 2019, 7th Ed.) and should be placed near the reference in the text of the article. During formatting phase, these items may be relocated;

    9. Images or photographs must be delivered in a resolution of at least 300 dpi (dots per inch);

    10. In numerical references, authors should use the dot as a decimal separator and all mathematical references, including their symbology, should be made according to APA (2019, 7th Ed.);

    11. Foreign words must be presented in italics and not in quotation marks, except in quotations from texts;

    12. All references and citations presented throughout the text must be included in the "References" section, according to the APA reference style (2019, 7th Ed.);

    13. In the “References” section, all references should include the doi (at the end of the reference), whenever this exists. The doi presented must start with "10" and contain the prefix and the suffix separated by a slash (/). The prefix is a number of four or more digits and the suffix is what identifies the digital object (associated with a particular publisher). This is an example of a doi reference: 10.1037/a0037344. Authors are advised to verify all references before submitting the manuscript;

    14. The manuscript should not include information that identifies the author(s).

     

    General terms and conditions

    1. Manuscript submission must be done by OJS Platform.

    2. It is expected that all authors will take full and public responsibility for the content of any published articles;

    3. Originals accepted for publication become editorial property of the journal, which means that the author(s) grants the journal the exclusive right to publish as implication of copyright.

    4. Reprinting and partial reproduction of published articles, in any format, must have written authorization from the Editorial Board;

    5. Published articles can be placed in institutional directories, in their full-published version/PDF;

    6. As for open access, published articles are available online via http://iduc.uc.pt/index.php/psychologica/issue/archive.
