Abstract

The human being in the course of his lifelong development makes an immeasurable number of decisions. Most of those decisions are trivial, while other choices, however, are perceived as very important and require greater attention and careful deliberation. Decisions related to the career domain belong to the latter group, because they have significant implications for the life-style of the person, the kind of people with whom they socialize, leisure activities engaged and, ultimately, for the quality of life and well-being. In the present work the author, firstly, define the concept of decision-making and reflect on what is a “good” career decision, based on the most common models of decision-making. Then we will present the PIC [Pre-screening, In-depth exploration, and Choice] model (Gati & Asher, 2001a) as an approach that can be used to facilitate the career decision-making process of youths and adults.
