Abstract

Based on the cookery section included in O Jornal da Mulher, this paper aims to analyze the relevance of home economics advices and kitchen recipes provided to readers throughout the three decades in which the magazine was published. The paper also tries to perceive constants and differences in the area of practical knowledge imbued with moralizing considerations.

Isabel Drumond Braga, Universidade de Lisboa, CIDEHUS-UE e CH-ULisboa, Faculdade de Letras

Isabel Drumond Braga – Professora auxiliar com agregação da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, na área de História, onde leciona desde 1990. Foi professora visitante na Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brasil) em 2009, na Università di Catania (Itália), em 2011, na Universidade Federal da Uberlândia (Brasil), em 2013, e na Universidade Estadual de Londrina (Brasil), em 2015. É professora do programa Erasmus Plus, na Università degli Studi della Tuscia (Viterbo-Itália), desde 2007 e da Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma (UNINT- FIT), desde 2016. Tem desenvolvido investigação e lecionado nas áreas de História Social, História Religiosa, História de Género, História Cultural e História das Práticas do Quotidiano, em especial História da Alimentação, das épocas Moderna e Contemporânea. Membro de diversos projetos de investigação em Portugal, Espanha e Brasil. Orientadora de projetos de pós-doutoramento, doutoramento e mestrado, nas áreas História da Inquisição, da História das Práticas Culturais e da História da Alimentação.
