Life in the wire. Risk medialization

Abstract

The images entering every day in our houses and the lecture of the press as well are giving an idea of permanent risk, as if our life was always on the wire. In order to understand this we appeal, on one hand, to the contributions of the sociologist Ulrich Beck, which work has media in an important place, and, on the other hand, to the bibliography about the way of working of media. Finally, some considerations are produced about the way situations of risk are covered by media in Portugal.
