The risk of become psychologically ill (e.g. anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress) is high among workers whose professional activity involves intervening in accidents, whether when rescuing or in other functions. Sleep disorders, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts are also common. Although trauma interventions are more cognitive-behavioural in nature, and in depression/anxiety they are more pharmacological, whole-body hyperthermia is starting to be used in depression. This study aims to examine the impact of one hyperthermia session on the emotional state and on the quality/duration of sleep among 19 varied professionals, some of whom perform their duties in accidents. The data were collected using a Xiaomi smart band for sleep time measurement and online questionnaires to measure anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and traumatic symptoms, applied before the session and then weekly for a month after the session. An improvement in general and emotional well-being and increased sleep time/quality were found, suggesting that hyperthermia could be a promising intervention in the future.
