Aristotle is the author of the famous statement that humans are the only animals that laugh. However, at least in his remaining work, he does not offer any explanation for this, limiting himself to use laughter as an example for other physiological functions. Thus, the aim of this article is to propose, from these sparse assertions about laughter, an explanatory hypothesis of this phenomenon according to the Aristotelian way of thinking.
