The relationships between fathers and sons were fundamental throughout the Homeric society. In this article, we highlight Simoeisios figure, a young warrior who perished during the Trojan War. His death prevented him from repaying his parents what they spent and sacrificed during his education, leaving them helpless in their old days. We intend, therefore, to observe and compare through other cases, in what extent the ephemerality of life conditioned the parental philia.
