Relevant information about the complex and well organized politico-administrative Roman system are done by honorific inscriptions. In fact, when give us the curriculum of the personalities honoured, these inscriptions show us unsuspected functions. This is the case of the praefectus orae maritimae. The inscription dedicated by Pompeia Donace to her husband can be an example.
