The influence of elements of the classical tradition is evident in Camões’ works. As part of his dramatic production, this article aims to identify aspects that, in the play Filodemus, seem to have been recovered from the New Comedy. The themes, the intrigue of mistakes, the novelistic nature and the figuration of the characters are the lines of analysis on which our comparative study between the Camonian play and certain works of Menander is structured, who, in the absence of testimonies, is the representative for us of Nea.
