Oedipus, Suassuna, ConflationAbstract
In this article, we seek an Oedipus in the novel Romance da Pedra do Reino by Ariano Suassuna. The author goes through and adapts the classical matter in his text without sacrificing the originality of his writing. The starting point is the conflation, which takes place in Quaderna through the great array of mixtures, provided by several readings which, shuffled by time, produce a multifaceted Oedipus, who, as a backlander created by Suassuna is a poet, who lacks blindness. The muses of the Brazilian backland grant him the blindness, which improves the verse.
