Abstract

In the context of Greek and Latin literature, few figures are simultaneously as fascinating and obscure as Memnon. Through a brief analysis of the literary and iconographical sources, this article will start by recapping what we still know about this hero in order to, in a second moment, evaluate the possible influence of a particular iconographical scheme, in which he is included, in Christian art.
