Abstract

With this article, we intend to observe how and why the Classical Antiquity works are quoted in the Abecedário Real (1692) by Fr. João dos Prazeres. The article’s main goal is an attempt to understand why a 16th century monk quotes so vehemently the Classical Antiquity authors.
