The ecclesiastical justice and the search engines of offenders: the complaints, disputes and denunciations in the eighteenth century

The ecclesiastical justice pursued and punished hundreds of offenders in the areas Lusitanian colony. In search of the laity and priests misuse, ecclesiastical judges employed mainly three search engines: complaints, disputes and denunciations. These testimonies show, through a comparison with standard ecclesiastical, that the evangelization guidance Tridentine, was inseparable from the action of ecclesiastical justice.
