A Conservação de Acervos Bibliográficos e Documentais: Restauro do Livro de Registos da Chancelaria da Sé de Coimbra da Sede Vacante (1647-49) Caso de Estudo no Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra

Abstract

In this work, we perform the recovery of an old book “Livro de Registos da Chancelaria da Sede Vacante”, after the pathologies have been identified. In this case, they were mostly caused by insects and fungi. Fungal organisms were identified according to their morphology and molecular biology. The work on the book itself was divided into two tasks: an initial study and desciptive memory of the item, to determine the principles to have into consideration during the restoration procedure; and a second task, where we studied the book´s pathologies, did the photographic record and detailed sheet of for this manuscript. Afterwards, we selected which treatments and intervention methods to follow, as well as the corresponding procedures and materials.
