The training paradigm of the archivist in Portugal

Abstract

The aim of this article is to make a historical synopsis of the Archivist training in Portugal and the necessary competencies for their performance in the twenty-first century, in particular the potential of professional file management information in Organizations. It presents the results of an evaluation carried out by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education in the scientific area of Information Science. It points out the importance of the participation of the archivist in knowledge production and in social, economic, political, historic and administrative development of public and private institutions is also pointed out. Finally, the humanistic training of that professional is highlighted.
