The article presents the results of research carried out at the Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra (AUC) about the practice of exorcisms in the episcopate territory during the 18th century. It seeks to characterize the documentary record, redefine some concepts and elucidate the presence of a prominent exorcist, responsible for many cures and, also, many testimonies by the population.
