the meanings of the maps and the construction of narratives about the tourist spaces in Rio de Janeiro
The purpose of this article is to understand how the narratives about the tourist spaces of the city of Rio de Janeiro were constructed from the maps and their meanings. It reflects on the images of the city from its cartographic representations from 1923, when the first specifically tourist map of the city is made. It seeks to identify from a semiological analysis, the elements that helped to constitute certain imaginary of the city that currently occupy a larger plot of representations and spatial and cultural products that establish Rio de Janeiro as main tourist destination of Brazil.
