Abstract

The Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip and the genocidal situation that has taken place in this small coastal strip have been interpreted in different ways. While Israel and its allies seek to justify the offensive with arguments of “self‑defense” and place the beginning of everything in the Hamas attacks of October 7, others point to the fact that, well before October 7, there were already many signs of Israel’s desire to change the demographic configuration of historic Palestine. In this sense, we seek to contextualize genocide in the history of Palestine and (re)think Palestinian history based on the consummation of the current genocide. Finally, we propose a reflection on what Gaza can tell us about the future of Palestine and the possibilities of Arab‑Jewish coexistence in the region.
