Abstract

This article presents pharmacists and doctors in French society, from 1970’s to nowadays, and from the point of view of other health workers: the herbalists. Unlike biomedicine actors, herbalists have no legal existence in France, since the removal of the herbalist certificate, during the Second World War. Despite this situation, herbalism has known a renewed success from 1970’s, along with deep changes in its practice, and today, herbalism appears as a way to criticism biomedicine and to emphasize its limits. But further observations of practices shows that biomedicine and herbalism are also expected to complement each other.
