Engineering geological mapping of Natal count, RN, and adjacent areas

Abstract

This paper present an engineering geological mapping, at a scale of 1:50.000, of a coastal area of around 317 Km² including the town of Natal near by areas in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

The several parts of the mapping consisted of a survey of pre-existing informations of the area, with the elaboration of working maps via from fotointerpretation works, and field surveys and laboratory tests, which allowed the elaboration of the basics maps, consisting of: bedrock maps and unconsolidated materials. From the analysis of the data contained in these maps and the cross reference of informations it was possible to obtain: general engineering geological zoning maps
