Global stability of geosynthetic reinforced embankments on soft soils

The theoretical aspects that supports a computer program of global stability of geosynthetic reinforced embankments on soft soils are described. This program, based on limit equilibrium assumptions, uses the results of application of a two-dimensional numerical model (finite element method). The application results of this program on a reinforced and unreinforced embankment on soft soils are also presented and compared.
