Analysis of Segredo rockfill dam using the spatial mobilized plane constitutive model

Abstract

Segredo rockfill dam with 145 meters high was analysed using the spatial mobilised plane model. Its formulation simplicity is one of the advantages of the model when compared with other elastoplastic models, besides it's a model developed for non-cohesive granular materiais. Toe model parameters where obtained from materials similar to those of Segredo dam because there where no specific tests for this dam. Computed displacements show a reasonable agreement with monitoring data although the rnain purpose of the analysis was to evaluate plastic zones within the fill and its influence in the final displacements.
