This paper presents the model analysis carried out to study construction arrangements adopted for an arch dam to be built on an active fault, where the occurrence of large displacements cannot be excluded.
Besides the usual contraction joints, the dam will be provided with a perimetral joint between the arch and the pulvino, a plane horizontal joint that separates the arch into two parts, and vertical joints in the lower part of the dam.
The model analyses make it possible to evaluate the fault movements that the dam will be able to withstand, for serviceability and rupture conditions.
