Abstract

Cambambe dam (Kwanza River - Angola) was built in the early sixties with a height of about 68 m. ln 1981, the heightening of the dam up to elevation (132.75), 20 m above the actual crest, was decided by Angolan authorities. Site investigation and laboratory test results leaded to the conclusion that remedial measures for foundation consolidation were needed in the zones already trated and also in those of the new structures.
