A quantitative method of analysis in the monitoring of loads in rock anchors

Abstract

This paper emphasizes the importance of monitoring the loads in rock anchors and points out the advantages that may occur with the systematic planing of rock anchors instrumentation.

Several techniques of measuring the loads in rock anchors are mentioned, emphasizing the instrumentation through load cells.

The mains purpose of this paper is to analyses in detail the various factors responsible for the lossening of rock bolts and to propose a quantitative method of interpretation of results obtained by monitoring techniques.

Conclusions and recommendations based on the analysis of data obtained by the author are also presented.
