The use of Terrace Graveis at São Simão Dam

Abstract

Comparison between compaction tests with integral samples and  tests  with  reduced samples representative of  total  grain  size  curves,  in  which  were  verified  the  influence  of  factors  like Compaction Energy, Maximum Grain Size, Moisture Content  of  coarse  grains,  and  Gravei  Content, as well  as  the  construction  of  Test  Fills  using  smooth-drum  vibratory  rollers,  made possible the development of a compaction control method  for the  terrace graveis  extensively  used  at São Simão Dam in Brazil.
