Abstract
In 2003, Domingos Tavares has begun a new publishing project entitled “Sebentas” of History of Modern Architecture. As explained in the plan of its published work, these “sebentas” (notes taken from lectures and then typed in the form of a book for university students), in a monographic way, “reflects the transcription of the contents of the lectures of FAUP’s History of Modern Architecture regarding the classical circle of the European architecture. Through its attainment a new label emerged – Dafne – with a widely recognized work published in the realm of architecture. Today it seems unquestionable that the “Sebentas” of History of Modern Architecture implies a teaching project for History. However, how can we characterize this project? What is its starting point and its goals? Nine years has gone since the launch of the first “Sebenta”, so this short essay aims to analyse and circumscribe the Domingos Tavares’s project for the teaching of History and, mainly, their valuable contribution to the learning methods of teaching History of Modern Architecture that, for decades, the author lectured.
