  • When the work contains more than 2 authors, “et al.” is used. Example: (Simões et al., 2017).
  • When a direct quote is referred, the page of the quote must be included. Example: (Simões, 2017, p. 16).
  • Do not use expressions such as Idem or Ibidem.
  • Secondary references should be avoided. However, whenever they are used they should be mentioned as follows: (cited by Silva, 2005).

  • Loanwords and neologisms appear in italic.
  • Number expressions including numbers from 0 to 9, or that initiate a sentence, appear in the written form. Number expressions above the number 10 that do not initiate a sentence appear in numeral form. This rule does not apply to tables and graphics, where numeral form should be always used.

  • PUBLICATION

 Submission:

  • The texts (articles/reviews) should be submitted online by using the OJS.
  • Peer-review:
  • The texts will be submitted to a scientific revision, according to the process of an anonymous review by two peers. The referees will be nominated by the Scientific Coordinator of each number of Mediapolis – Revista de Comunicação, Jornalismo e Espaço Público. The authors will be invited to prepare their own texts for the scientific anonymous review. Mentions to the authors’ names and publications should be carefully deleted, as well as the identity of the author in the Word document's "properties".
  • After the review, the authors will be notified with the decision of the referees and the referees’ notes regarding their submission. If the submission is accepted to publication, the authors will be invited by the Scientific Coordinator to consider the referees’ suggestions.
  • The texts will be reviewed by two referees. If their decisions are not unanimous, the tiebreaker will be done by the Scientific Coordinator or, if necessary, a third referee review will be required.
  • The Editorial Coordination of Mediapolis – Revista de Comunicação, Jornalismo e Espaço Público reserves itself the right to proceed to the standarization of bibliographic references and formal changes considered necessary, without altering the meaning of the text.

Ensuring Blind Peer Review

In order to safeguard the impartiality of the blind peer review, authors and reviewers should ensure that information leading to their identification is eliminated from the submitted files. Within this scope, the authors of the documents should suppress references to their identity in the proposed text. This assumption also applies in cases of self-citation - in these situations, authors should replace references to their identity by "Author" and should also delete the titles of the works cited. Authors should also remove all references to their personal information in the properties of the submitted files.

Rights

  • Mediapolis – Revista de Comunicação, Jornalismo e Espaço Público reserves itself the right to: reproduce the texts, regardless of the format; make the texts available to the academic public or others.
