This paper examines the translation and the commentary of Plutarch’s Quaestiones Platonicae which Ludovico Nogarola dedicated in 1550 to Pope Julius III. The modus vertendi of the humanist (compared with that of Xylander and Cruserius) and his critical ability in commenting on difficult passages are taken into consideration. Attention is particularly focused on the second Quaestio, which concerns the definition of the supreme god as father and maker of all things.
