Abstract

The University Student Engagement Inventory evaluates the academic involvement in the behavioral, cognitive and emotional dimensions. This study involves 249 students and aims to contribute to validation of this Inventory in students that entered Higher Education (HE) through the Over 23 years old process. The confirmatory factor analysis showed a tri-factorial structure. The absence of discriminant validity between two dimensions and the high correlations between the three factors suggested the existence of a second-order factor, which presented adequate adjustment and reliability. It was also observed the measurement invariance of the second-order model between sexes and between students entering HE for employability and the remaining. These results are promising, suggesting future investigations.
