O Papel da Comunicação no Exercício da Parentalidade: Desafios e especificidades

Abstract

The present paper aims to reflect on the role of communication on the exercise of parenthood, regarding the challenges, specificities and family crosses. Theoretical literature highlights the effectiveness of this relationship, emerging therefore the Pragmatics of Human Communication Model (Watzlawick, Beavin, & Jackson, 1967/1993) as an important support to the comprehension of these two concepts. In empirical terms, one can verify the existence of different studies on the relationship of parents-sons communication with other variables, namely, the sex of the progenitors and their children, the stage of the family’s life span and the familiar typology/composition. Hence, it is intended to deepen the knowledge of one parenthood dimension so influent, as communication, on relation well being between parents and sons.
