This article is about political and ideological aspects of the passing of the anthropologist and professor at the old Faculty of Sciences, University of Coimbra, Eusébio Tamagnini, as Minister of Public Instruction, between 1934 and 1936 – that is, in the principles of the Estado Novo (1933-1974). It was during his ministry that the Estado Novo started to debug teachers and researchers, as public servants, for reasons of political and social order, known or suspected, as opposed to the then newly instituted tend totalitarian regime established in Portugal. The legal mechanism for legitimating clearance of these officials was the Decree-Law 25.317, 1935, which was in force until the fall of the Estado Novo, and whose first writedowns came to occur, not by chance, at the University of Coimbra, intellectual cradle of the president of the council of ministers, António de Oliveira Salazar (1932-1968). We should also highlight the role of Eusébio Tamagnini at the Ministry of Public Instruction in order to raise some fascist ideological apparatus to serve as the basis for the conversion of this public organ,
after his return to the chair, in Ministry of National Education, since under the baton of António Carneiro Pacheco (1936-1940).
