The present work analyzes the convent of S. Francisco of Jesus of Monção in the Early Modern Age, giving particular importance to the aspects related to the cloistered life, but also studying the foundation of the institution and its passage from the gathering to the convent, admissions, dowries paid, sources of funding and money given at interest. With the available sources, it was possible to accompany an institution from its foundation to its closure and to understand the dynamics of a female cloistered institution on a frontier land.
