The Revista Portuguesa de História is a scientific journal that is situated in the area of History, welcoming, mainly, articles on National History and the Portuguese Empire, but also studies on other countries. The present issue publishes articles from Portuguese historians and from other countries, namely Spanish, German, Chinese and Brazilian, which expresses its strong internationalisation.
Since its creation in 1941, RPH has distinguished itself by the quality of its articles. A sign of the recognition of its merit was the integration in the last decade in the main international platforms and the passage, in the last update of the SJR Index (Scimago Journal & Country Rank), from the fourth to the second level of the world ranking (Q2).
This journal is committed to following current historiographical trends - in terms of themes, methodologies, explanatory models and scales: the local and the global, the national and the transnational -, as evidenced by the content of the articles published in this volume.
